The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship (UES) provides an opportunity for international students from outside the European Economic Area (EEA) to pursue a Master’s degree in selected fields at Utrecht University in the Netherlands.

Scholarship Coverage and Duration:
The Utrecht Excellence Scholarship can cover tuition fees alone or tuition fees along with the required income linked to a study residence permit as set by the Immigration and Naturalisation Service, for one year. The scholarship is initially awarded for the standard duration of the program and can be extended for the second year in the case of two-year Master’s programs.
Eligibility Criteria:
To qualify for a Utrecht Excellence Scholarship, you should meet these conditions:
- Rank in the top 10% of your graduating class.
- Do not hold an EU/EEA passport and are not eligible for support under the Dutch study grant and loan system.
- Have completed your secondary school and/or bachelor’s degree outside the Netherlands.
- Have applied for an eligible international Master’s program starting on September 1, 2024.
Application Process:
After applying for an eligible UES Master’s program(s) before the specified deadline, non-EU/EEA students can submit a Utrecht Excellence Scholarship application from November 1, 2023. You’ll find the UES application(s) in your OSIRIS Online Application account dashboard. The scholarship application deadline is February 1, 2024, 23:59 CET.
