Scholarship Overview:

The Swedish Institute Scholarships for Global Professionals (SISGP) is a newly launched scholarship program that replaces the Swedish Institute Study Scholarships (SISS). These scholarships are available for a wide range of master’s programs offered by Swedish universities in the autumn of 2024.

The SISGP Scholarship is designed to nurture future global leaders who will actively contribute to the United Nations 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development and drive positive and sustainable development in their home countries and regions.

Academic Fields:

The scholarships support full-time one- or two-year master’s programs offered by Swedish universities and higher education institutions. There are approximately 700 English-taught master’s programs eligible for the SISGP scholarship, spanning various fields such as humanities, agricultural science, medicine, public health, natural science, social science, and technology. The official website will soon provide a list of eligible master’s programs for the SISGP application for the academic year.

Scholarships are available to students from the following countries: Armenia; Azerbaijan; Bangladesh; Bolivia; Belarus; Brazil; Cambodia; Cameroon; Colombia; Ecuador; Egypt; Ethiopia; Gambia; Georgia; Ghana; Guatemala; Honduras; Indonesia; Jordan; Kenya; Liberia; Malawi; Moldova; Morocco; Myanmar (Burma); Nepal; Nigeria; Pakistan; Peru; Philippines; Rwanda; South Africa; Sri Lanka; Sudan; Tanzania; Tunisia; Uganda; Ukraine; Vietnam; Zambia; Zimbabwe.

Scholarship Coverage and Duration:

The scholarship covers full tuition fees, a monthly living allowance of SEK 12,000, insurance, and a one-time travel grant of SEK 10,000-15,000 (for scholarship recipients residing outside Sweden). These scholarships are intended for one-year or two-year master’s programs, starting in the autumn semester.

The scholarship does not extend to family members or the application fee for University Admissions.

Eligibility Criteria:

To qualify for SISGP, you must:

  • Be a citizen of an eligible country (refer to the list above). Residency in the country is not mandatory.
  • Apply to master’s programs eligible for SI scholarships, with subject areas prioritized based on your country of citizenship.
  • Have demonstrated work experience (conditions apply to specific regions) and leadership experience from your current or previous employer or civil society engagement.
  • Be liable to pay tuition fees at Swedish universities, complete University Admissions steps, pay the application fee on time, and receive admission (or conditional admission) to an eligible master’s program by March 21, 2024.

Application Process:

The application portal opens from February 12 to February 28, 2024, on the official website.

To begin, apply for a master’s program at universityadmissions.se by January 15, 2024. After applying, you will receive a unique eight-digit application number. Keep this number for your SI Scholarship for Global Professionals application.

Once you’ve submitted your master’s program application, apply for the SI scholarship through the online portal from February 12 at 00:01 to February 28, 2024, at 14:59 CET.
